Data Engineer (Medior–Senior) – Databricks Focus

This is a full-time engagement for an experienced data professional who enjoys combining hands-on delivery with a strong advisory role towards the business. You will work closely with stakeholders to shape data solutions, guide technical choices, and help the organisation make informed decisions on its data platform capabilities. A longer-term collaboration is preferred to ensure continuity and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimise data solutions on Databricks, focusing on reliable ingestion, transformation, and analytics use cases
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to business and IT stakeholders, explaining platform capabilities, trade-offs, and best-fit technical solutions
  • Translate data and analytics requirements into practical, scalable implementations within the existing data ecosystem
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and help shape data platform evolution, with an eye on performance, cost, and maintainability
  • Support data consumers (analytics, reporting, data science) by delivering high-quality, well-documented datasets
  • Collaborate closely with other data engineers, analysts, and solution architects to ensure alignment and reuse of best practices

Required Skills & Experience

Technical

  • Several years of experience as a Data Engineer or Analytics Engineer (medior–senior level)
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Databricks (Spark, notebooks, orchestration, optimisation)
  • Very good command of Python and SQL for data transformation and analysis
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (preferably Azure) and data lake / lakehouse concepts
  • Solid understanding of batch processing; exposure to streaming is a plus
  • Experience with BI and analytics tools (e.g. Power BI) is an asset

Profile

  • Advisory mindset — comfortable challenging assumptions and guiding stakeholders towards realistic, value-driven solutions
  • Communication — able to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Autonomous and proactive — takes ownership and moves topics forward with limited oversight
  • Pragmatic and delivery-focused — balances best practices with business constraints and priorities

The Environment

You will work in a data-driven organisation where analytics and data platforms play a growing strategic role. The position involves frequent interaction with business stakeholders and requires someone who is confident operating at the intersection of data, technology, and decision-making.

What We Offer
