We are looking for a Solution Designer

Role:
Decides on and designs the technical solution/architecture (modules, components, layers, interfaces, classes, tables, ...) of IT Systems in alignment with the Enterprise Architecture. This role is typically engaged as the highest-level technology expert on a project team. Partners with business analysts, systems analysts and engineers in requirements gathering and reviews. Viewed both internally and externally as a technical expert and critical technical resource across multiple disciplines.
Main Responsibilities:
- Responsible for analyzing and translating business, information and technical requirements into a technical architectural blueprint that outlines solutions to achieve business objectives, and this in alignment with the Enterprise Architecture
- Works with Enterprise Architecture, application and infrastructure teams to produce an optimal, high level, conceptual design for the projects.
- Designs the technical architecture of individual solutions that integrate across applications, systems and platforms.
- Proposes changes in process, policy and standards as they relate to the architecture and design principles.
- Researches and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and solutions to solve business problems.
- Develops application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features.
- Uses a variety of platforms to provide automated systems applications to customers.
- Provides expertise regarding the integration of applications across the business.
- Develops programming architectures for code reuse.
- Acts as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor and change agent.
- Analyse technology, industry and market trends in order to determine the potential impact on the enterprise
- Contributes to the buy-or-build decision on new projects, aligned with the Enterprise Solution Architect and Enterprise Technical Architect

Qualifications, skills and experience required:
Mandatory
- Has in-depth knowledge of state-of-the art programming languages and object-oriented approaches in designing, coding, testing and debugging programs.
- Understands and consistently applies the attributes and processes of current application development methodologies.
- Researches and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the business.
- Requires advanced to expert level knowledge and understanding of architecture, application design, systems engineering and integration.
Desirable
- Application and data design for one or more major bespoke solutions.
- Experience of building a solutions library, identifying potential re-use elements in new developments and ensuring that they are delivered so that they can be reused.
- Delivering solution architecture services in an environment that uses one or more of Honda’s other key technical solutions such as AMS.
- Several years of experience in an organisation which sells and distributes manufactured goods.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with IS colleagues at all levels.
